1 second difference

Here you can discuss the game in general and provide us your opinion or feedback on the project.

Well it look like there is almost 1 second difference between some players, it is easy to see that with the smoke.
You see absolutely nothing when others already see you clearly and the difference is around 1s .

We're currently looking for proof of instances where one player has no vision due to the smoke and the other one has clear vision, but not from the killcam (which displays evens in real-time). Match ID and timestamps would be needed to check this in the replay.

I would have give you the match ID but on survarium.pro and surv.knyazev-tools I can't see the match from today??
I will try to give you when I have the match ID.

Strange that match on both link stop yesterday?

All good here, https://survarium.pro/matches/list I don't know why it doesn't show your matches. Submit a ticket :P

it look like even here is a problem? Look page 104 (pages are moving) date of 03/05 there is no match between 08:57 and 20:46?
The match I wanted to show you is on 03/05 around 18h-18h45 and as you can see we don't see it.

That morning there were server connection issues that were fixed in a couple of hours, I think, so that's the reason why some matches are missing from that period, but people were playing again at like 13:00.

If that site is missing matches, any other sites will miss them too because all it does is access the API provided by VG.

Anyway, replays aren't stable at the moment, it's known by Support. I wanted to check a replay to report some smoke bugs and even though I found the match, the replay crashes (but there are replays that do work, even on the same map and same mode).

I think I had the same issue yesterday. Even on the kill cam the enemy clearly saw through the smoke. Wonder how.

So I could see the replay.

First as info it look like battleeyes when you watch the replay cause the crash so you have to stop it.

This is screen shot concerning the smoke, I have to say that I see a difference on my side, in match I see the smoke more opaque maybe due to my configuration.

Support says "replay bug".
xD

edit: further answer from Support
"same bug as killcam, cause on replay smoke already ended, cause replay interpolated actions and persist in current game - you hear sound from live players. it's always worked in replays in same way. the only way to check if it's really a bug would be recording live gameplay on both monitors or to check journal/log files."

Good luck with that.

Maybe they should fix that bug?

There are two option for me concerning smoke, or what we see on kill cam is the true and there is one second difference between some players or all is fine and in that case some players use wallhack.

My statement had an "or" xD If live gameplay can't be recorded, you can note down the match id and the moment when you think this happened, save the journal/log after that match (because it gets overwritten after you re-launch the game) and then submit a ticket requesting Support to check this. It would be best to have 2-3 situations like this before escalating it to Support.

What you see in the killcam isn't true most of the time.
What I found is that apparently when you're inside the smoke but at the edge of it, you can see enemies outside of it but they can't see you. I have a couple clips of this for now, so still not sure, need to test it more.

I noticed this once too. Someone killed me and was wondering how the hell he was able to see me (because all I could see was smoke, no silhouette or nothing) and sure enough, from his point of view I was clearly visible at the edge

Yeah, I talked to the devs after that and they said they know. So, confirmed.jpg

I'm wondering why replays work this way and always were before? Why don't we see what he saw by the time we were killed?

Largely because some effects (most notably - smoke) don't work well with our "time rewinding".
So, during the game game rewinds time twice:
1) when you're killed and game switches to killcam
2) when you respawn and game switches back to real time
As result during killcam and immediately after respawn smoke may work somewhat incorrectly.

Same goes for replays - whenever you use rewind some effects may break. If you want to see both yours and enemy perspectives then try rewinding to moment of time before grenade was thrown - this should make effects somewhat more close to reality.

Or maybe we should fix other bugs first? Or implement some other features first?
Unfortunately we don't have resources to do everything at once so we have to choose. And unfortunately fixing this bug is far from trivial.

Or maybe remove smoke. Or maybe it is because the forbidden video explain why it is like that?
