I'm going to buy a LG 29" ultra widescreen monitor and I wondered if this game supports 21:9 resolution or not?

Playing with 2 black bars on the sides is not really comfortable isn't it.

No. You would have unfair advantage from the wider field of view...

Play in a window. On the rest of the screen you can have another equally fascinating game, solitare, for example and switch between them if one of them starts to be boring...

I will say it in this way: It could be possible.

Why?

There is a possibility, to start Survarium without the Launcher and with help of a batch file. One of the parameter in this batch is a parameter with name "all resolutions".

This leads me to the opinion the resolution for your monitor must work.

But because of the fact that this resolution values are not in the main resolution list you must change the values by hand.

Maybe this help you:

In the Harddisc c:\user\your name\documents\survarium\

you will find a file with name user.xxx (xxx=at the moment I don't know the right letters)

Open this file in an editor and scroll down to the resolution setup. Change this values to the highest values of your monitor.

Save the file, start the game and see what goes on. In addition - in the game setup - you must activate the checkbox "Fullscreen".

What is it like? Which resolution are you running in now? Can you tell us what kind of difference playing in Ultra Wide makes to gameplay and also to performance?

What are your system specs?

My system specs:
I5-3470
8GB RAM
GTX 670 2GB

I'm running the game with 2560x1080 resolution therefore I have better view in the left and right side of my monitor. Well in my opinion this gives me more advantages when I'm lurking around the corners, or when I'm standing on a high point of the map.

Someone was playing on an ultrawide back before RU OBT launched. I forget if they had to do anything special, but it gave a super big FOV view on the sides, very panoramic. If you have the hardware to drive such a resolution, you should have a pretty good time and get a wide view of the battlefield :)

I decided to give it a try to see if it would support multiple monitors, and I got a few screenshots:

http://i.imgur.com/7nJxIyB.jpg (in game)

Only downside is that it messed with the mouse. Bare in mind this is three monitors at a resolution of 5760x1080p. I'm sure it could be fixed, but for me, it resulted in uneven mouse sensitivity as moving the mouse horizontally resulted in the cursor and my aim in game travelling three times as fast as vertical movements. Still pretty though! Although it's rather easy to see how the UI is definitely not designed for triple screen setups, hah. :P

A 21:9 monitor will likely work, but bare in mind it might also mess with the sensitivity of the mouse.

Looks interesting. But a three-dimensional depth in two-dimensional representation ... that bewildered the eyes.

In addition I can imagine... The correct adjustment of the mouse driver and mouse sensitivity in the game, also takes a long time to complete.

The whole thing would have to look very interesting with VR glasses.

I doubt this game can run flawlessly while using VR due to the optimize.

Those triple monitors pictures are nice, but only for taking screenshots thou. The fish-eyes effect is too much for a normal person to play with a view like that lol.

There's admittedly not much of an advantage to be had. As the other fellow said, it's a bit disorienting to have three screens running the game. I'm sure it's something I can get used to, and my PC is strong enough to run it at around maybe 80-100 FPS or higher. However, the UI is just not designed for this resolution so it's not as enjoyable as you'd think.

It does however make for some excellent screenshot options. I might just snag some nice screenshots to use for a desktop wallpaper.

You can disable the hud for screenshots, or just for playability :)

I have :

i5-2500
8GB DDR3 2000Mhz
GTX980

I was considering an LG 29" 21:9 IPS screen because they just got reduced on eBuyer.com but I currently have a 27" 1920x1200 screen. Grabbing the Ultrawide will not give me very many extra pixels or desktop space but it would improve FOV on games which support those resolutions. One of the reasons I haven't made the switch yet is that I play a LOT of older games which I know will not support 21:9, so I'd have the black boxes on either side of the screen and have to play in 1920x1080. Not such a big negative point, but knowing this I'd probably be better to get a 34" 21:9 so then at least the screen is larger, especially on the vertical.

Nice thread though. Very interesting.

Since you are already owned a 27" 16:9 go for 29" 21:9 is big wasted.

Save your money and wait for a on sale 34" 21:9 to grab one is a better idea.

29" 21:9 = 23" 16:9 in height (better in width)
34" 21:9 = 34" 16:9 in height (better in width)

Yeah i was thinking along these lines. 29" is just not gonna make it worth spending the money. I'd go 34" but it's too expensive.

Maybe I'll wait.
