We've already stated that there will be other players in the game world in Freeplay.

If you want to kill people, play Counter Strike ! Did you know that Half Life was a Scavenge game, just like this game when it comes out, and people turned it into - Counter Strike. So please, stop it...

PVE is boring?. Go plau SOC,Clear sky or COP please and encounter two bloodsuckers at once in master mode and then tell me its easy to fight NPC's in games like this, Or in fallout 3 in the hardest against a deathclaw. Mutants are hard. Especially if its a strong one that soaks your bullets. A player pales in comparison to mutants with special abilities and with good AI. Since you have encountered enemy players since you started playing fps games. It's not exciting to get robbed and ambushed every meter you walk on land.

Open world PVP is more akin to a Deathmatch mode in just a bigger sandbox than your usual map where everyone is for himself or in makeshift teams in squads. It's the hunger games all over again. You are going to turn it into DayZ with everyone playing a freaking bandit and camping on every building or bush ready to kill you to steal your loot.

Arnuld is right. STALKER is basicaly a survival game where you scavange for equipment and it would be nice that Survarium is like that to. I think that the best thing to balance the wishes between open world PVP and pure PVE is to do an open world PVP with locked teams (each faction is a team) and make mutants hard to kill (so they are very difficult to kill for one player alone). And if it can be done, to make shifting anomalies. Freeplay would be hard but very interesting to play and would require teamwork to scavange and more tactical approach to engage another players in combat and with some luck, classic FPS will be avoided.

That makes me think about something... a Survarium way to World of Warcraft, in a non-session-based world. I would love it, but I don't know if the rest of the people would, and also it would be a LONG time to wait till release a whole, big bunch of maps like SoC. Just an idea.

Sadly a Warcraft like Survarium MMO is impossible with their current engine ;)

'Not entirely'? That word can give hope and take it away, can you elaborate it or is that impossible due to rules and restrictions?

The vostok engine can handle thousands of players per match & huge worlds? Please elaborate because as far as i know it already has troubles with 16 players and a small map regularly.

So, how can you state something as rediculous as this without any elaboration at all?

Come on, stop teasing us! xD

I might be wrong, but by what Joe is writing I hope for a larger map/world than I've expected it (i.e.: not just double the size of Rudnya...)

Oh, the suspense! It's killing me ._.

Because he doesn't have to. He can't reveal info about Freeplay mode.

Joe can't elaborate more and he is just teasing cause Polska is spreading information which, as it seems, is not true.

So how do we not have Freeplay mode more than a year after the original expectation of it being ready to be tested when the engine can handle something similar to the WoW engine? For me that seems incredibly hard to believe and i will actually ask aleksey to ask the developers about this.

"It all comes down to around 7500 people." - WoW server population. Go ahead and show me the Vostok Engine can handle this.

It COULD be possible if they handle their resources wisely, using several zones instead of a single map for example. When I was trying to sleep, I saw in my head the way the world would work, and... it was beautiful. The chill that only STALKER has, mixed with some sort of new mutants and couple world bosses, guilds creating fortresses and being attacked by the forest itself, also I figured a way to stop the low-lvl hunting, using a simple but cruel debuff, something like being bloodstained (fkcing obviously, you shot to someone, the guy is bleeding all over the place XD), with stacks, every certain number of stacks, the forest will send headhunters, or monsters attracted by your scent, bah, everything is possible if you want it to~ *epic background music*.

planetside2 is dying, and the owners are probably reluctant to sell it in the upcoming year, and with it an engine that can do what you guys want.
